Just in case you missed it's subtle presence on my gig calendar, I have a show in Nashville on the 7th of Sept.

I'm playing as part of a 5 day music festival kinda thing called Next Big Nashville. There's a flier/banner on my myspace profile and below which has a link to their official website explaining more about all the stuff that's going on during those days. Time and place info is on my gig calendar.
So be sure to come along and tell anybody who you think might be interested. I'll be playing a couple of old tunes and a hand full of new ones from the new album.

oh Also! as a gig teaser I'm playing three songs at a songwriter night (called "8 of 8th") at the Mercy Lounge (in Nashville) on the 3rd of sept along with some other cool to the max bands and artists. oh and that night is free. that's right Three Free songs from Me and many others.

So to re cap.
A full 30 minute set on the 7th of September at the Cannery Ballroom (not sure what ticket prices are yet, sorry)
And a three free songs set (Dr Seuss eat your heart out!) on the 3rd at the Mercy Lounge.

Hello there.

I've been getting tons of emails and comments asking "where can I buy the new song?!".

Well I am happy to say it WILL be available on i-tunes as of the 27th of Feb ... c'mon now ... I don't want to hear any of your grumbling ... that's only 10 days away! Actually I had hoped it would be up by now but these things take a bit of time (usually two or so weeks) and I only found out about the placement of the song in Grey's Anatomy the week before it was aired!!

I made you a fun little video even though I was in a jet lagged state! ** flickering eyelashes and flashing a big smile **

To be honest I'm pretty surprised that I am getting to release this song on I-tunes at all! For those of you who don't know, A Bitter Song is actually a new track of my next album which isn't quite finished and doesn't even have a release date yet! So I was pretty happy to hear that the Powers-that-be were going to let me make it available at all to you lot. Just so you know, i-tunes will be the only place you can buy it as it is just a special one off thing.

I just have to say ... How about the placement in Grey's Anatomy last thursday eh?! Pretty amazing!

I couldn't stop grinning even though it was a really sad scene!

I'd like to say I've had a great couple of days receiving everybody's emails and comments. It's all very very encouraging. And a big welcome to all the new self professed fans that have discovered my music. WELCOME. Actually for those that are new around these parts, even thought A Bitter Song is not available on i-tunes yet, my album by the name of Flutterby IS available. Also a kids song and a song off the Shrek 2 soundtrack. That should keep you occupied till the 27th of Feb!!

'till then, please be my guest and play it's little heart out on my Myspace player.

It's so wonderful to know people are hearing my songs, it's been a while since I've had such a big wave of the general public's feedback, and if this is what it's gonna be like then I CAN'T WAIT to let you hear the album!!!

Alrighty then. Where do I start. Basically I feel a little bad because I've had lots of people wishing me all the best in the studio over the last month or so (that part feels great) but really ... I only started recording for real this last monday! That's right, two days ago!
The recording starting date kept getting pushed 'till later and then later again and then a little later after that and and and. I'm sorry for those of you who would have liked to have been kept up to date but honestly, it was all so disappointing and frustrating I thought I wouldn't put you through it as well! Plus it makes for a really boring blog!

ANYWAY, all you need to know now is that I am in New York and in the studio FOR REAL now and all is going really really well. The songs are shaping up nicely. Right now we are working on getting the arrangements perfect. Mainly so the Intro, Outro and middle bits all sound their strongest. Everything is written, we are just moving parts around a bit to see which flows the best.
In about a week and half we are going to have this brilliant drummer come in and play on most of the tunes.
That's about it for now.

Sorry it's been a while ... did you miss me?

I am now back in Nashville. My last bit of touring with the lovely Sarah McLachlan down in my home country of Australia went splendidly. The tour went by so quickly! I managed to catch up with quite a lot of family and friends, and generally surround myself with a lot of sweet people. Which is always a nice space to be in.

I am currently nursing a terrible sore throat and a heavy head full of snot ... too much information perhaps?! It's a natural part of life. Unlike sitting in the sky at 40,000 whatevers traveling however many miles per hour for hours upon tens of hours! I'm not sure our bodies are built to really do too many of those "Australia to America, via New Zealand" kind of trips. I've done about three already this year.

Anyway, enough about me.

hmmm.

Well I might leave a message on that nifty voice mail thing we've got set up ... just as soon as my voice stops sounding like that of a man's!

Hello lovely peoples of the web surfing kind. It is I, Butterfly. Back from my silence of winding down after a year of touring.
Welcome to the new year, I understand this is a little late as we are a month well on our way into it! But still!
Sooooo, what have I been up to you might well ask? where a have I been?
I've been winding down, breathing, sleeping, eating good food. That kind of thing. I spent three weeks in Australia over christmas with my darling family and friends. I've been back in Nashville for a few weeks now, keeping very quiet and trying to get stuff together in my head and heart ... good time to write some songs!

It's official I WILL be going to Australia in March to open for Sarah Mclachlan. This will be the last of the touring I get to do with Sarah. What an amazing experience it has been. I am very excited about FINALLY getting to play in my home country. It will be the first time I've played there since going Solo. Gosh, the more I think about it, I really am rather excited about touring there!

Then after that ... well ... album number 2 is being talked about ... but I'll tell you more about that ... when I know more.
sorry I've been so quiet lately. Just needed some space, you know.

Good afternoon all.

It seems like The Royal Albert hall show was years ago, but looking at my trusty calendar it assures me it was only two weeks and two days ago!

14 shows down, 10 to go (finishing up on the 19th of Nov back in London).

This second leg of the tour has us driving many miles most every night. Fun fun fun (nervous laughter!) but getting to walk around these great cities makes it all worth while. There are so many places I want to live one day. I'm gonna need more life to do all the things I dream up!

So, the second single started going out to radios in the US of A. "I Can't Make Me" is the song to request and hound your local radio station about.

Speaking of the single, for those lucky people who have signed up on my web page you can download a copy of the radio mix of "I Can't Make Me" which is not (and will not be) on the album. We are also scheming other fun contests to happen on a regular basis. Soooooo TELL ALL YOUR FRIEND'S (to get off there butts and sign up!).

BUT, if you're not into all that fun stuff and just want to get the single mix (you must be crazy in the head!) it is also available through i-tunes for $.99 as of Nov 9th.

Hmmm what else.

GET FRIENDS TO SIGN UP ... oops, no, already said that.

Looking to do some more dates in USA, East Coast way, in December (Boston, Philly, Nashville, Burlington, Cleveland etc) just keep an eye out.

Alive and ... eating. | News

This is Butterfly coming to you live from a Hotel in Birmingham (UK) which boasts having "Fast Free Internet access", don't mind if I do!
It's 11pm on a sunday and I am eating my left over's from lunch. I'm also devouring a pack of "Slow roasted Lamb and mint" potato chips. These chips are amazing! England has got the chips thing down to a fine fine art.

I had a great time catching up with various parts of my family whilst in London. Those of you that happened to be at the Royal Albert Hall show were introduced to my niece, Ebony. I asked Ebony during the show to squeal for me so I knew where she was sitting. Two seconds later a brilliant high pitched single squeal came from one of the boxes on the balcony. Very cute and lots of fun. She's 26 years old ... ... ... no ... not really, she's only 6 years old.
All the gigs have been great so far, people continue to buy the album ... because I tell them they should! which completely blows my mind.
For the last couple of shows I've had Ash, Brian and Vince (some of the lads from Sarah's band) join me for three songs, always nice to have extra company up on stage.
I finally feel, as of today, my personalty has found me and jet-lag has left me.
Looking forward to the rest of the cities on this European tour.
Great to see the chat room still buzzing, even when I'm gone. Internet access has been tricky.
Gotta go, got some night telly to watch and some Jaffa cakes to nibble and munch at.

Hello Lovlies!
I have 20 mins before I jump in the car and head to the airport.
I'm very excited and anxious about my next adventure to Europe. Woo hoo.
I will get to see some of my family, squeeze my new little niece and drink cups of tea.
I have had a lovely time-off back at home (be it brief). It's been great to catch my breath and eat good things and catch up with good friends.
I would like to say a very heartfelt THANK YOU to all of you who posted "get well" notes for me and who in general have been a huge support . Big thanks also for all who came out to the club shows, it was my pleasure to play for you.
I know you would like me to post more often (because you've said it before), I am looking into some kind of video blurb, rather than always having to write.
we'll see, we're working on it.
Gotta go, I may be in Europe but I haven't left you, keep the posts rolling. Maybe we'll have some new visitors soon, wouldn't want them to think they were all alone now would we?

In 2002 Nettwerk America, in cooperation with VH1 Save The Music Foundation, released "For The Kids", a collection of classic children’s songs along with noteworthy originals performed by a such participants as Sarah McLachlan and the Barenaked Ladies.

The next installment, "For The Kids Too!", which will feature Butterfly Boucher’s "I’m Different", debuts on Oct. 19 with The Lili Claire Foundation as the benefiting charity. The Lili Claire Foundation is a nonprofit organization that benefits people born with neurogenetic disorders such as Williams Syndrome, Down Syndrome and Autism.
